The holiday gîte Les Fontanelles sits on a 4.2-hectare estate in the meadows and woods of the Tarn. A genuinely quiet place, with sweeping views over the valley and room for up to four guests. Officially classified as a 5-star gîte in January 2023 — the highest category available.

Inside

The living room is the heart of the house: spacious, light-filled, and designed for sinking into after a day of hiking or swimming. The Leolux sofa is everything it promises to be. The kitchen flows directly from it and is fully equipped — you can cook as seriously here as you would at home, or as simply as your holiday demands.

The two bedrooms sit on opposite sides of the house, both quiet and with proper darkening shutters. Beds are made up on arrival and towels laid out, so you can settle in straight away.

Outside

The gîte has two private terraces, each with its own character and its own view across the valley. One holds the dining table and the plancha grill; the other is a place to retreat with a book in the shade of the trees. In the evenings it is genuinely quiet — the kind of quiet this region still does well.

The heated pool is about twenty metres from the house, with a sun deck and large parasols. You share it with the owners, but in practice you’ll have it to yourselves nearly all the time.

Practical

The property is family-friendly. There’s a charging outlet for electric cars, fast Wi-Fi in and around the gîte, and excellent mobile coverage. No other guests stay on the property — you are the only ones here.

For those who like to know: the air conditioning works in both directions, so the house stays comfortable in early spring and late summer too. And the washing machine is a quietly welcome luxury halfway through a two-week stay.

Pets are not allowed; no exceptions are made.

Accessibility

The gîte is entirely on one level. There are no thresholds, including in the bathroom and shower. It is therefore suitable for guests with some degree of limited mobility. Access to the gîte does involve a few steps, so it is less suitable for wheelchair users.
